Most boiler breakdowns are caused by a worn part, faulty valve, pressure issue or control fault. We'll diagnose the issue first and only recommend a new boiler if repair genuinely is not the right option.
Whatever it's doing, it rarely gets better on its own. Here's what we see most, and what usually causes it.
Cold radiators or no hot water at the worst possible time, the most common reason people call us out.
A fault code on the display, or the boiler clicks but won't ignite and light the burner.
Loud bangs, whistling or gurgling noises usually point to trapped air, sludge or a failing part.
Water pooling under the boiler, or the pressure gauge dropping and needing a daily top-up.
A worn diverter valve, pressure relief valve or other component is one of the most common causes, and usually quick to put right.
A drop in system pressure, often from a small leak or a bled radiator, can stop the boiler firing. Frequently a simple fix.
A failing thermostat, timer or PCB can leave you with no heat even when the boiler itself is fine.
Trapped air, a build-up of sludge or a seized pump causes banging, cold radiators and lockouts. Often cleared on the day.
